About 1623 Capital
1623 Capital LLC was founded in 2018 by Jeff Fischer and Brian Richards. As an investment management firm, they run a high-conviction fundamental long/short equity strategy, notably the 1623 Pro Fund. They utilize HubSpot for contact and relationship management but required advanced customisation to match their operational complexity.
The Challenge
1623 Capital realised their complex use case requirements exceeded standard HubSpot capabilities. They faced three primary hurdles:
-
Data Consistency: Contact and company information wasn't being captured consistently, with duplicate properties causing confusion.
-
Complex Account Structures: They needed to record granular information about specific client account types (e.g., onshore/offshore, custodians) which needed to be listed individually with unique owners and values.
-
Redemption Management: The team needed a way to manage not just investments (sales), but also redemptions (withdrawals), which followed a completely different process.
Solution
IFT leveraged its HubSpot expertise to build a fully customised portal architecture.
-
Contact Property Cleanup: Recreated properties correctly (e.g., text to drop-down) and built custom team information panels with conditional sections to display only relevant info, resulting in a cleaner user experience.
-
Custom Objects: Built a Custom Accounts Object to capture granular details like account types and locations. Built a Custom Redemption Object to track withdrawals separately from sales deals.
-
Flexible Associations: Implemented flexible associations to link multiple companies to single contact records and label these associations (e.g., "RIA") for better visibility.
-
Pipeline Automation: Created a custom pipeline specifically for monitoring redemption stages and implemented automation to create tasks with context when deals move through sales stages.

The Results
The project successfully transformed 1623 Capital's HubSpot portal from a standard CRM into a bespoke investment management engine. Key achievements include the deployment of Custom Objects for both Accounts and Redemptions, enabling the tracking of complex data without cluttering the sales pipeline. The implementation of Flexible Associations allows the team to map complex relationships between multiple entities and contacts. Furthermore, the introduction of conditional information panels provided a cleaner, compliant view for users , while automated task creation ensured critical sales steps are never missed.
